Varbūt kāds jau to zināja, bet man tas bija jaunums, un ja tas viss tā arī būs tad sākšu boikotēt Holivudas filmas kādus gadus divus.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Solid information currently known:

Budget:
The movie will have a budget of approximately one hundred million - this is a rough estimate but it gives us the info that this movie will be a blockbuster (hopefully of epic proportions).
"Recent Internet rumors suggest that the Evangelion movie shall have the budget equal to that of a blockbuster, being roughly of 100 million or more. To compare this with other top movies; The Matrix had a $63 million budget and LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring had a budget of $109 million. It is unknown where such cash is coming from as the income of Anime does not rival that of Hollywood blockbusters."
Storyline:
The movie will focus on the first few episodes of the series. From the production images it can be gathered that the movie is set to feature "Ramiel" the cube with the wonderful drilling device - an episode that showed us the beauty of japanese power and big guns - something ripe for special effects.
Special Effects:
The effects will be worked upon by the masters behind Lord of the Rings, Weta Workshop.
""We are very excited to be a part of this wonderful project," Weta boss Richard Taylor said. "The subject matter is providing a fantastic level of diversity for us, allowing us to work in the anime world – which is at the other end of the design spectrum from Middle-earth. Having had the privilege of working on such strong source material that The Lord of the Rings offered, it is a privilege to again be involved in subject matter that has a strong and loyal fan base."
Director:
Hideaki Anno will NOT be directing.
Movie Release Date:
Anywhere between 2006-2010.
Executive Producer:
Husband of voice actress for Asuka - Tiffany Grant, Matthew Greenfield
FAQ About the movie:

1. Will it suck?
This really is the major question, isn't it? Will this movie be any good. Well, we just don't know! Chances are Hollywood could pull out a massive flop - as they do so often. Destroying all things good. BUT there is also the slight possibility the movie could be superb and masterful - we can only hope.

2. How true will it remain to the original series?
It is doubtful that it will be exactly the same... what would be the point in creating a mere replica? Many aspects will be altered simply to present the story in another medium without making it look "out of place" or stupid.

3. Who is directing the movie?
No director as of yet. It will not be Hideaki Anno or Peter Jackson.

4. Who is starring in the movie?
No actors as of yet. Shinji will most likely NOT be played by Daniel Radcliffe

5. When will the movie be released?
Early suggestions say 2006

6. Will it be in japanese?
No, well at least not all of it.

7. What part of the series will it be based on?
Rumors suggest the opening few episodes of the series. At least upto and including Ramiel.

8. Will it be a completely new story?
Rumors also suggest that the storyline is open to distortion by the film makers.

9. Will it be dumbed-down?
i.e. made less intelligent and more blatantly obvious for a larger audience
Probably. Sadly.

10. What's Evangelion?
The Series.

11. Angels or Space Invaders?
Angels. Angels. Angels.

12. Sequel?
If the first is successful!

Es negribēju. Ja filmas izgāzīsies (satura ziņā) un tā tas noteikti būs, tad zīmogs būs uzspiests arī anime.

Tas nav pirmais gadījums ar anime filmām. Man zināmie keisi ir 2 Guyver filmas (viena ciešama), ir Gundam TV filma (totāls s...), Sailor Moon live action (brrrrr)
Ja Matrix skaitam par anime (anime crossover principā), tas tas ir viens sekmīgs anime movie keiss.
It kā Final Fantasy: Spirits Within arī varētu minēt.
Animi ir grūti pārnest uz live action stilistiskās specifikas ziņā, taču piestrādājot tas ir iespējams - sk. Matrix.
Jautājums paliek, cik lielā mērā Joe Average ņems pretī animes stila elementus filmās.

Ziņa tiešam nav jauna .. no tālā 2003-05-21:

ADV Films has issued a press release confirming yesterday's reports form the Cannes Film Festival.
In an announcement sure to make waves in the entertainment industry, ADV Films President and CEO John Ledford today publicly confirmed industry rumors that the firm has acquired the rights to produce, and has already begun development of, a live-action feature-film based on the Japanese animated television series “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” a multi-million dollar worldwide franchise and perhaps the most influential anime title in the history of the art form. The project is a collaboration between ADV Films, Gainax and Weta Workshop, Ltd.
Gainax and ADV Films should be instantly recognizable to any anime fan as the studio that created Evangelion and ADV as the studio that owns the worldwide rights to the TV series and localized it for North American audiences. Weta Workshop, however, may not be a familiar name. Weta is the New Zealand studio set up by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson to handle the special effects for the LOTR trilogy. Weta’s work on “The Lord of the Rings” has garnered worldwide praise including two Academy Awards in 2002 (for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup), and one in 2003 (for Best Visual Effects). The British Academy has also honored Weta’s work by awarding two BAFTAs in 2002 (for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup) and two more in 2003 (for Best Visual Effects and Best Costume).

Šeit arī dažas skices:
http://eva.trivialbeing.net/index.php?c=images
http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=16790

Nu jāņem vērā ka Gainax nav amīšu kantoris līdz ar to teikt ka būs tīra Holivuda diezvai, ka var. Pie kam tā sauktais Live Action nevienmēr ir slikts (piemēram GTO vai You're Under Arrest par ko gan vairāk varēs pateikt kaarleens nav/nebija slikts).
Piesaistītie cilvēku (Weta) gan naudas (100 milj $) resursi ļauj spriest / cerēt ja ne idejiskā ziņā tad vizuāli filma ganjauka būs iespaidīga.

Efekts varētu būt arī pretējs - proti taisni piesaistīt cilvēkus nevis "uzlikt zīmogu". Jo ņemot par piemēru Matrix (kas average skatītājam parasti šķiet diezgan saistoš) pajautājot no kurienes ņemti tie paši slīdošie zaļie burtiņi un uzzinot ka tā ir anime Ghost In the Shell rodas kautkāda nebūt interese neiedziļinoties nemaz citos aspektos.

Neticu, ka no NGE materiāla var izveidot labu aktierfilmu. Neatkarīgi no tā kas to veidos, būs lielāka vai mazāka laža. Protams, vienmēr būs skatītāju daļa. kam ies pie sirds, it īpaši ja varēs redzēt, kā afektīgi tiek uzsperti gaisā tie ~100 miljoni.
Manuprāt, filmas veidotāji nespēs sabalansēt action ar NGE filosofisko satvaru. Anime šis balanss bija vairāk vai mazāk vērojams, bet mūvī to būs ļoti grūti īstenot, droši vien, ka noslieksies par labu action, kas tomēr garantē drošu kasi.

Te dažas atbildes (arī par vecumu):

"Notes About the Live Action Evangelion Movie"
By Tiffany Grant

As you can imagine, I have received a large number of questions inquiring about various aspects of the announced live-action Evangelion movie. As I answered each question, I would add on to my earlier response, which is how I came up with this "article" on the subject. I hope this will address your concerns.

First off, there are 26 TV episodes and two movies in the Eva library (not to mention the as yet unfinished manga series by co-creator Sadamoto). The first goal is to produce a movie that encapsulates the most important elements of the early part of the series so that the viewer will not have to have seen the aforementioned 15 or so hours of video, and still leave room for one or two (maybe more?) follow up films that can finish off the story.

The movie is being produced jointly by Gainax (of course), ADV and WETA. If you are somehow NOT familiar with the WETA Workshop, this is the incredible studio founded by Peter Jackson in New Zealand that created the Lord of the Rings films - for which they just won an unprecedented number of Academy awards in a clean sweep of all categories in which they were nominated. By watching the fantastic
documentaries on the LOTR DVDs, you can get an excellent idea of the kind of attention to detail that this group gives to everything they do.

Also, if you have read the LOTR, I think you will see that the characters in that iconic tome have been very faithfully brought to life. In fact, in a film adaptation of the second most read book in the English language (the Bible is the first), it is pretty well unanimously agreed that WETA got it exactly right. Bearing that in mind, I have every reason to have confidence that the same folks who hand glued every hair on each hobbit foot, will do a spectacular job with our NGE heroes.

Keep in mind that WETA will not be doing this in a vacuum either, as they will be supervised by people at both Gainax and ADV (such as my husband, of course).

As for the "slug" names used in the preliminary script (NOT the final version!!!) which appear on the production drawings, they are only used so as not to refer to them as "Pilot A" and "Captain B" etc. As has been widely discussed, the cast will be international, and mostly of European descent. Meaning, for example, if Daniel Radcliffe (Anime Insider's suggestion - NOT mine!) were to play the lead male role, it would be pretty stupid to call an ENGLISH boy "Shinji." Therefore, "Kate Rose" for example is the name they are using for the designs is in place of "Pilot of 02" or whatever.

As no actors have yet been cast, the pre-production drawings are simply pictures that are drawn of imaginary people in place of having a headless body in a plug suit. The artists are trying to design what a real-life plug suit will look like, and it would seem easier to do (and better to look at!) if the person also has a head. Remember - we don't know what the suits are even made of! Rubber? Plastic? Leather? The sketches are part of the early costuming process, and I am quite certain that when a director is found, he or she will seek out the best people for the roles. It seems quite doubtful that they would try to find a person to
match a drawing.

It may also be of interest to note that there is a genuine desire to cast kids of the right age to play the main roles - NOT 22 year-olds to "play younger." Therefore, it is difficult to speculate at this early stage on who will play these roles since it is not possible to tell right now when principal filming will begin.

The show is in VERY early stages of pre-production, so nothing is final yet. ADV was just trying to share a little Eva goodness with everyone by showing off some of the thousands of production drawings that have been produced. I think they are fabulous, personally, and I eagerly await each new development in the project.

I believe you can all rest easy knowing that the films will be everything and more that we ever thought they could be.

Nejauši dabūjās man Evangelion seriāls, laikam japāņu DVD ripi (MKV formātā).
