Overview:

This is a pretty wild little series. It's a spin off of Excel Saga so it has the same sort of crazy humor that pokes fun at nearly everything with the difference that this really goes over the edge (if there is an edge). It's littered with references to all sorts of other series, real life events, and even lots of fanservice, especially evident in Shii's extremely large breasts which she just loves to flaunt and play with and Itsue's job as a dominatrix in a local sex club. The flow of the series is kind of spastic and hard to follow at times but that is a reflection of Kobayashi's (a.k.a Poemi) personality since she would probably explode if she had to stay still for any given length of time. I recommend that viewers watch both of the dubs on this because they're both really funny, and the high speed of the subs could be hard to read. It's somewhat like GoldenBoy too where the English dub is a bit more crude and thus funnier, like in some of the dialog between Nabeshin and Kobayashi. There is also a commentary track that is provided by the director and cast of the English dub that gives a bit of insight on what the dubbers go through before and during the process of producing the dub which is pretty interesting. Even though it is pretty short, I think this is one of the best OVAs out there, and I think most people would agree once they saw it. I hope you enjoy watching it.

A truly gorgeous series, with one of the cleanest transfers I've seen yet. Absolutely stunning. Very comparable to Evangelion, only this one makes sense
NOTE: This series on the 13th episode changes from ogm to mkv. This was done to accomidate various imperfections in the source which the mkv container can overcome. For those of you looking for ogm's you're out of luck.
NOTE-2: For the various Extras XviD RC1 or later is required.

I find this to be a very interesting movie. It's pretty much a recap of the series but it has a lot of new animation and is told more from Haruka's perspective with a few changes from the original story arc. The story is very philosophical and beautiful and should be enjoyed. I did this encode anamorphically to preserve as much detail as possible. The actual frame size of 688x464 is the same as that on the DVD after the sizable crop that was required. Your player should resize to 688x516 in order to have the intended aspect ratio of 4:3. TCMP, Zoomplayer, and the XviD codec support this feature, so regardless of your player of choice the encode should appear at the proper size. The Japanese audio on the R1 DVD is horribly b0rked. There is no dialog out of front left speaker for about the first half of the movie. Consequently, I've used the R2 Japanese audio, and this problem has been fixed. The source was pretty clean making the filtering process fairly easy. XviD ended up being the video codec of choice because it compressed slightly better than DivX. I really have to thank the typesetters as well. Acou did a nice job and I hope you enjoy his work. B0nk worked on many of the more difficult signs and I think you'll find his work to be amazing. There is one scene a little more than half way into the movie where he has about 10 incredible signs in the period of a couple minutes, and it blew me away. If you like this encode, support the authors and purchase the DVD. Enjoy!
